About Us

The concept of StudyFloat was born out of an acute awareness of the financial struggles faced by university students in Kenya. Every semester, students eagerly await the disbursement of loans and grants from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB). However, these disbursements are often plagued by perennial delays, leaving students in financial limbo.

Further complicating the issue is the fact that a large proportion of university students in Kenya are unbanked and, as a result, have limited access to affordable credit options. Banks and traditional financial institutions usually require credit histories and collateral, which most students lack. This leaves them resorting to more expensive and less flexible means to cover immediate financial needs.

It was against this backdrop that the idea of StudyFloat emerged. We saw an opportunity to offer a lifeline to students, leveraging technology to fill the void left by institutional inefficiencies and traditional banking limitations.
